Joshua Allen Parrish and Jackson Joshua Liam Crowley!
I emailed this to everybody I had email addresses for, but just in case I don't have your's- Here is the story of Jackson's birth and his name!
Jackson Joshua Liam Crowley was born on May 8, 2008 at 11:17am. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz and was 19in. long. We decided that being induced was the best for me and the baby and I really think it was a blessing! By choosing to be induced it allowed us to get the Dr. we wanted and we had two wonderful nurses! Jeff's friend/co-worker's wife (Melissa) is an OB nurse and when she found out we were being induced she made sure that she got to be my nurse. She also made sure that we got the room furthest from the nurses station (the quietest room)! She knew all about my horrible experience with Parker's delivery (ie. no sleeping because I could hear everything going on outside my room, the nurse that was horrible to me about Parker not nursing well and forcing us to give him a bottle, having to stay the extra day in the hospital, etc.) so she did everything she could to make sure that this time it went much better. We were also very lucky that Jackson's nurse was a friend from church- Mary! She made sure that I got Jackson immediately and didn't take him to clean him up for several hours! She did everything she had to in the room while he was still on my chest and let me keep him as long as I could before taking him out of the room! Thankfully, Jackson started nursing immediately and didn't give us any problems with that! Our new pediatrician was also willing to come in even though he wasn't on call. He came in on Thursday to check him out after he was born and then came back on Friday to do his circumcision. I couldn't have asked for things to turn out any better!
We checked into the hospital at 6am and they started the induction about an hour after that. They checked me a couple of times to check my progress and around 11am Dr. Kacenga and his med student came back in to check me again. To my surprise I was fully dilated. He left the room to do something and Melissa (my nurse) had me do a couple of pushes to see if I could do it with the epidural. After just a few pushes she had to get on the call button and tell them to get Kacenga right away because Jackson was already part way out! They made me stop pushing and pant until Kacenga was gowned up! I think I pushed about 6 times (2 contractions) after the Dr. got in there and Jackson was born!
How Jackson got his names! Why 2 middle names?????? That's the question everybody is asking! In honor of my brother Josh we decided to use Joshua for Jackson's middle name. I also wanted to use the name Liam in honor of him. When Josh and Rosie were pregnant with their boys, Josh really liked the name Liam, but he never got to use it. I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so we went with both. I think it sounds like a very strong name! Jeff and Josh weren't real happy with him having 2 middle names, but Jeff said I could decide! Besides, he doesn't have to use both names unless he wants to. He may have to write the whole name out on legal documents, but for the most part he can use the initials! Above is a picture of Josh holding Jackson! Besides Jeff and Mom, Josh was the first family member to meet Jackson! Josh and his mother-in-law, Gilma, came to see him within the first hour of him being born!
